

Majed Shala is a contemporary Palestinian artist of compelling and beguiling talent, who is attracting a growing international reputation.
Shala has a Masters degree from Scranton University, USA and since the early 1990s has been committed to the education and training of young Gazan artists, supervising programmes at the Gaza YMCA, running mural and drawing workshops and summer camps for young people. He has participated in workshops hosted by the Goethe Institute, French Cultural Centre, the Qattan Foundation and UNDP.
He has exhibited his photos, painting and video installations in Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Brazil, Germany, US, Jordan and Italy.
Shala is one of the founding members of Shababeek Gallery (Windows Gallery), Gaza which has for the last few years been at the forefront of promoting the work of contemporary Gazan artists, tacking political realities and creative responses.
